The Crawford Chapel

East Window

The fine east window in the Crawford Chapel executed by Messrs. Heaton, Butler and Baynne and  designed by Lady Jane Evelyn Lindsay in memory of her father, Alexander William late earl of Crawford and Balcarres.

It consists of four lights containing figures of St Paul, St George, St Martin and St Oswald.

Below each of the figures is a vignette.

St Paul is presented as preaching to the people of Athens

St George in his conflict with the Dragon

St Martin dividing his cloak with a beggar

St Oswald, and the battle of Heavenfield

In the tracery of the head of the window are a crucifixion and representations of the four Sacraments
